Hydro Dip DIY dip kits are the best on the market today. We have formulated for quality first and ease of use second. Our DIY hydro dip package allows for high definition graphics to be printed on three dimensional objects. Designed by the orignal Hydro Dip brand which is known throughout the world as the best in the business at the hydrographic process. Our DIY hydrographics are designed for hobby level users and those who are considering adding hydrographics to an existing business. This is a great way to get your hands dirty and experience how the process works.
The original Hydro Dip package is a do-it-yourself product which works much like the commercial process known as water transfer printing. It contains everything needed (printed film, chemicals, and basic supplies). The only other items needed is a dipping tank and water set to temperature. This is the same printing process camo, gun and ATV manufacturers use to print camouflage patterns on their products. Most automotive manufacturers use to print wood grain patterns on plastic interior pieces. Our package allows you to process parts on a small scale in the convenience of your home and can be applied on any substrate that can be submersed into water safely.
There are hundreds of patterns to choose from and available in a variety of sizes that offer both aerosol versions with no paint mixing, as well as more advanced options using 2k products. Whether dipping your rifle stock or adding special touches to a high school project, we'll help you experience decorative protective coatings that will set you apart and color your world.
What is Water Transfer Printing?
Water transfer printing also knows as hydrographics is the process of applying decorative finishes to three dimensional products. Any hard, non-porous surface that can be submersed in water can be decorated. Any object paint will stick to is a good candidate for this process. Examples of such materials are: plastic, glass, hardwoods, fiberglass, ceramics and metal (metal objects require a self-etching metal primer).
How does the hydro dipping process work?
A print resides on a thin base of water-soluble film. The printed film is gently placed on the surface of warm water and the base begins to dissolve. Next a patented activator chemical is sprayed over the film causing the ink to remain floating in an oil-like state on top of the water. Then the properly prepared item is immersed into the water and the upward pressure of the water causes the ink to wrap around and adhere to the item. After the entire item has been immersed, it is immediately removed from the water, cleaned and coated with a clear coat.
Included in the kit is a link to a set of video instructions which walk you through the process step by step.
Four Easy Steps:
